The Strongest Arguments Against the Sabbath Examined: What Does the Bible Really Teach?

Spiritualism Rebranded: UFOs, the State of the Dead, and the Bible’s Warning for the Last Days

Spiritual deception does not always look the same in every generation.

In one age, it may appear through pagan temples and idols. In another, through séances and mediums. In another, through mystical experiences, near-death stories, apparitions, or messages from supposed departed loved ones. Today, many believe it may also come through the language of UFOs, UAPs, non-human intelligence, interdimensional beings, and “visitors” from beyond this world.

The names may change.

The packaging may change.

The technology may change.

But the foundation of the deception remains the same.

It goes all the way back to Eden, when the serpent told Eve, “You shall not surely die.”

In this discussion from Heritage and Hope Ministries, Dr. Brian Hustad, Alex, and James examine modern spiritualism through the lens of Bible prophecy. The presentation connects UFO disclosure, the immortality of the soul, near-death experiences, apparitions, mystical worship, meditation, and the final deceptions described in Revelation.

The purpose is not to create fear. It is to call people back to Scripture.

Jesus warned in Matthew 24, “Take heed that no one deceives you.” If Christ gave that warning while speaking about the last days, then deception must be one of the great dangers facing God’s people before His return.

What Is Spiritualism?

Spiritualism is the belief that the dead can communicate with the living.

That may sound simple, but it is one of the most dangerous ideas in the world. If people believe the dead are conscious and able to speak, then they become vulnerable to messages that appear to come from deceased loved ones, saints, angels, spirit guides, or advanced beings from another realm.

But the Bible teaches a very different view of death.

Genesis says that God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into him the breath of life, and man became a living soul. The soul is not described as an immortal ghost trapped inside the body. A living soul is the whole person, made alive by the breath of God.

When death comes, the process is reversed. The body returns to dust, and the breath returns to God who gave it. The person does not continue as a conscious spirit floating in another realm.

Ecclesiastes says:

“The dead know nothing.”

Psalm 115 says:

“The dead do not praise the Lord.”

Ezekiel says:

“The soul who sins shall die.”

These verses are clear. The dead are not conscious. They are not watching over us. They are not sending signs. They are not appearing as birds, lights, voices, apparitions, or visitors from another world.

That means if something appears claiming to be a dead loved one, it is not that loved one.

According to Scripture, it is a deception.

The First Lie: “You Shall Not Surely Die”

The first lie recorded in Scripture was not about God’s existence. It was not about whether angels exist. It was not even about whether worship matters.

It was about death.

God told Adam and Eve that if they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they would surely die. The serpent directly contradicted God and said, “You shall not surely die.”

That lie has echoed through human history.

It appears in the teaching that the soul is naturally immortal.

It appears in the belief that the dead can speak to the living.

It appears in the idea that departed loved ones become angels or guides.

It appears in near-death experiences that claim people of every belief system enter heaven.

It appears in apparitions that contradict the Bible.

It appears in spiritualistic movements that promise secret knowledge from the unseen world.

The Bible teaches that immortality is not natural to human beings. Immortality belongs to God, and eternal life is a gift given through Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:23 says:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

The contrast is simple.

Sin leads to death.

Christ gives eternal life.

If eternal life is a gift, then it is not something every soul already possesses by nature. The doctrine of the immortal soul opens the door to spiritualism because it teaches people to expect conscious life after death apart from the resurrection.

Why the UFO Question Matters Spiritually

For many years, UFOs were treated as fringe ideas. They were associated with flying saucers, science fiction, conspiracy theories, and unusual sightings.

But in recent years, the language has changed. UFO became UAP. UAP became connected with “non-human intelligence.” The discussion moved from objects in the sky to beings, consciousness, interdimensional realities, and spiritual implications.

That shift matters.

The video explains that the discussion is no longer simply about unidentified aircraft. It is increasingly about intelligence, beings, consciousness, telepathy, apparitions, and contact with the dead.

That makes the issue spiritual.

When people describe encounters with “beings” that communicate telepathically, appear as lights or orbs, claim to bring messages for humanity, connect themselves with departed loved ones, or call for global spiritual transformation, Christians should pay attention.

The Bible already warned us that supernatural deception would increase before the return of Christ.

Matthew 24 says false christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so powerful that, if possible, they would deceive even the elect.

Revelation 16 speaks of three unclean spirits like frogs going out to the kings of the earth and the whole world. These are described as spirits of demons, working miracles, gathering the world for the final conflict.

So the Christian question is not simply, “Are these things real?”

The deeper question is:

What spirit is behind them?

The Spirits of Devils Working Miracles

Revelation 16:13-14 says:

“And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits of demons, performing signs.”

This passage shows that the final deception will involve spiritual powers, miracles, messages, and worldwide influence.

These spirits do not stay hidden in a corner. They go to the kings of the earth and to the whole world. That means the final deception will not be small. It will be global. It will involve religion, politics, media, and supernatural signs.

The video connects this with modern spiritualism and the idea that beings may appear with messages for humanity. These messages may seem peaceful. They may speak about unity, saving the planet, avoiding catastrophe, or entering a new age of consciousness.

But if those messages contradict Scripture, they cannot be from God.

Isaiah 8:20 gives the test:

“To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”

No matter how beautiful a message sounds, no matter how bright an apparition appears, no matter how powerful the miracle seems, God’s people must test everything by the Word of God.

The Dead Cannot Return to Warn Us

One of the strongest themes in the video is the danger of supposed communication with the dead.

People often find comfort in the thought that a deceased loved one is watching over them, sending signs, appearing in dreams, or guiding their decisions. This belief can feel tender and emotionally powerful.

But emotional comfort is not the same as biblical truth.

The Bible never tells us to seek messages from the dead. In fact, Scripture strongly forbids necromancy, mediums, and attempts to communicate with the departed.

Why?

Because the dead cannot speak.

If a message comes claiming to be from the dead, then the source must be something else.

The story of Saul and the witch of Endor is one of the clearest warnings. Saul had turned away from God. When God would not answer him through proper means, Saul sought a medium. He tried to receive guidance through forbidden spiritualism.

That act marked the depth of his apostasy.

Saul wanted spiritual information, but he wanted it outside of obedience to God.

This is still the danger today. People want supernatural confirmation. They want experiences. They want signs. They want contact. But if they seek those things apart from Scripture, they open themselves to deception.

Impersonation: The Enemy’s Emotional Trap

The video discusses the idea that demonic powers can impersonate deceased loved ones with frightening accuracy.

This is one of the most dangerous forms of deception because it attacks the heart.

A person may know what the Bible teaches. They may believe the dead know nothing. But what happens if something appears that looks like a mother, father, spouse, child, or friend? What happens if it speaks with the same voice, remembers private details, and appeals to love, grief, and memory?

This is why Scripture must be settled in the mind before the test comes.

If we wait until the emotional moment, we may not be ready.

The enemy does not always come with obvious darkness. Sometimes he comes dressed in comfort. Sometimes he comes through the face of someone we miss. Sometimes he uses grief as a doorway.

But God’s Word does not change.

The dead are asleep until the resurrection.

They do not return.

They do not guide us.

They do not reveal new truth.

Near-Death Experiences and the Test of Scripture

Near-death experiences have become very popular in modern religious culture.

Many people tell stories of dying, seeing light, meeting beings, speaking with loved ones, visiting heaven, or receiving messages about life after death. These stories can be moving. Some people use them as proof that the soul lives on after death.

But Christians must be careful.

Our doctrine cannot be built on experiences.

It must be built on Scripture.

If a near-death experience teaches that people of every belief, every religion, and every lifestyle enter heavenly bliss, then it contradicts Jesus, who said:

“No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

If a near-death experience teaches that the dead are conscious and active before the resurrection, then it contradicts the Bible’s teaching that the dead know nothing.

If a near-death experience teaches that sin does not matter, repentance is unnecessary, or all paths lead to God, then it cannot be accepted as truth.

The issue is not whether people had an experience. The issue is whether the experience agrees with the Bible.

Satan can use experiences to lead people away from truth. God’s people must not follow signs. They must follow the Word.

The Rise of a New Spiritual Religion

The video also discusses how UFO and non-human intelligence narratives are increasingly being framed as a kind of new religion.

This is important because the world is not becoming less spiritual. In many ways, it is becoming spiritually confused.

Many people reject traditional Christianity but remain open to angels, spirit guides, energy, consciousness, meditation, aliens, apparitions, astrology, and communication with the dead. They may reject the Bible while accepting almost any other spiritual claim.

This creates the perfect environment for deception.

A person who rejects Scripture has no firm test for truth. If something feels loving, powerful, advanced, or supernatural, they may accept it.

But the Bible warns that Satan can transform himself into an angel of light.

Not every bright being is holy.

Not every spiritual message is from God.

Not every miracle is divine.

Not every “higher intelligence” is trustworthy.

All Paths Do Not Lead to God

One of the repeated ideas in modern spirituality is that all religions are simply different paths to the same God.

That message sounds tolerant. It sounds peaceful. It sounds inclusive.

But it contradicts Jesus Christ.

Jesus did not say He was one path among many. He said:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

The apostles preached the same message. Peter said there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

This does not mean Christians should be harsh toward people of other faiths. We should be kind, respectful, loving, and patient. But love does not require us to deny the words of Christ.

If a spiritual movement teaches that Jesus is optional, then it is not from God.

If a supernatural being teaches that all paths lead to the same destination, then it is not speaking according to Scripture.

If a message removes repentance, obedience, the cross, the resurrection, and the commandments of God, then it is part of the final deception.

The Threefold Union of Revelation

The video connects modern spiritualism with the threefold union described in Revelation: the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet.

In the Adventist understanding of prophecy, this represents a final alliance between spiritualism, Roman power, and apostate Protestantism. These powers may disagree on many doctrines, but they can unite around shared errors.

One of those errors is the immortality of the soul.

Many pagan religions teach some form of conscious existence after death.

Roman Catholic tradition includes prayers to saints and Marian apparitions.

Much of Protestantism teaches that souls go immediately to heaven or hell at death.

New Age spirituality teaches spirit guides, reincarnation, ancestors, and higher consciousness.

UFO spirituality often speaks of interdimensional beings, non-local consciousness, and contact with the departed.

Different systems, same root error.

The Bible says the dead know nothing. The final hope of the Christian is not a disembodied soul going immediately to heaven. The final hope is the resurrection at the return of Jesus.

Why the State of the Dead Matters

Some people treat the state of the dead as a secondary issue. They may say, “Does it really matter what we believe about death?”

According to the Bible, it matters deeply.

If we misunderstand death, we become vulnerable to spiritualism.

If we believe the dead are conscious, we may accept messages from impersonating spirits.

If we believe loved ones can guide us after death, we may place their supposed words above Scripture.

If we believe saints or Mary can intercede for us, we may lose sight of Christ as our only Mediator.

The Bible teaches that Jesus is our High Priest. He is our Advocate. He is our Mediator. We do not need messages from the dead. We do not need spirit guides. We do not need apparitions.

We need Christ.

Modern Apparitions and the “Lady”

The video also discusses apparitions connected with figures such as “the lady,” Marian visions, and other spiritual manifestations.

These experiences often come with warnings about catastrophe, calls for global unity, messages of peace, or appeals to religious devotion. Some people interpret them as appearances of Mary or other holy beings.

But again, the test is Scripture.

Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a faithful servant of God. But the Bible does not teach that she appears to people after death. It does not teach that she mediates grace. It does not teach that believers should pray to her.

The dead are asleep.

That means any apparition claiming to be Mary cannot be Mary.

This is not an attack on sincere people who love Jesus and have been taught differently. Many sincere people are caught in systems of tradition. But sincerity does not make a deception safe.

God calls His people to test every spirit.

Meditation: Biblical or Mystical?

The video makes an important distinction between biblical meditation and mystical meditation.

Biblical meditation is active. It means filling the mind with God’s Word, thinking deeply about His law, His works, His promises, and His character.

Psalm 1 describes the blessed person as one who meditates on God’s law day and night.

That is not emptying the mind.

That is filling the mind with truth.

Mystical meditation, on the other hand, often teaches people to empty the mind, silence thought, focus on breath, repeat phrases, or open themselves to whatever impressions come.

That is dangerous.

An empty mind is not spiritually safe. Jesus warned about a house that is empty, swept, and put in order, but not filled. The unclean spirit returns with others worse than himself.

The Christian life is not about becoming empty for any spirit to enter.

It is about being filled with the Holy Spirit through surrender to Christ and obedience to His Word.

Jesus Calling and the Danger of Channeled Religion

The video also warns about popular devotional material that encourages people to receive messages as though Jesus were speaking directly through impressions.

The concern is not with devotional reading itself. Christians should read, pray, and commune with God. The concern is when people move away from Scripture and begin seeking extra-biblical messages through stillness, impressions, or automatic writing.

God speaks through His Word.

The Holy Spirit may impress the heart, but He will never lead contrary to Scripture. Any devotional practice that teaches people to empty their minds and receive whatever thoughts come should be tested carefully.

The Bible does not tell us to seek channeled messages.

It tells us to study the Scriptures.

Strange Fire in Worship

Another major warning in the video concerns emotional, mystical, or chaotic worship that is presented as the work of the Holy Spirit.

The Bible tells the story of Nadab and Abihu, who offered strange fire before the Lord. They treated holy things carelessly and brought unauthorized fire into worship.

This story is a serious warning.

Not every fire is holy fire.

Not every emotional experience is the Holy Spirit.

Not every supernatural manifestation is from God.

True worship must be governed by Scripture. The Holy Spirit does not lead people into confusion, sensuality, pride, false doctrine, or loss of self-control.

In John 16, Jesus said the Holy Spirit would convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. The Spirit leads to repentance, obedience, holiness, and truth.

Any worship movement that replaces conviction with entertainment, doctrine with experience, or reverence with emotional chaos should be examined carefully.

The Role of Music and Emotion

Music is powerful.

It can lift the heart toward God. It can help us remember Scripture. It can express praise, sorrow, repentance, joy, and hope.

But music can also be used to manipulate emotion.

The video warns about worship styles that use repetition, rhythm, volume, lighting, and atmosphere to lower discernment and create an artificial spiritual experience.

This does not mean every modern song is wrong or every emotional moment is false. But it does mean worship should never bypass the mind.

Jesus said we must worship in spirit and in truth.

Truth matters.

Doctrine matters.

Reverence matters.

The goal of worship is not to chase a feeling. The goal is to honor God according to His Word.

The Name of Jesus Has Power

One of the most encouraging points in the video is that demonic manifestations are powerless before the authority of Jesus Christ.

Several accounts discussed in the presentation describe frightening experiences stopping when people called on the name of Jesus.

This should not surprise Christians.

The Bible repeatedly shows that Christ has authority over demons. During His earthly ministry, evil spirits trembled before Him. They knew who He was. They could not resist His command.

There is power in the name of Jesus.

But calling on Jesus is not a magic formula. The deeper need is a real relationship with Him.

Acts 19 tells the story of men who tried to use the name of Jesus without belonging to Him. They were overpowered because they used the name without surrendering to the Lord behind the name.

The safest place in the universe is not curiosity about the supernatural.

It is abiding in Christ.

Why Curiosity Can Be Dangerous

Many people are fascinated by the supernatural.

They want to watch documentaries, study apparitions, experiment with meditation, listen to near-death stories, or investigate UFO contact. Some do this with curiosity. Others do it because they want proof that the spiritual world is real.

But God has not called us to chase darkness.

Ephesians says we should have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. There is a difference between exposing deception through Scripture and feeding curiosity with occult material.

Christians should be careful.

We do not need to experience darkness in order to understand truth.

We do not need to listen to demons in order to recognize deception.

We do not need supernatural thrills in order to have faith.

The Word of God is enough.

The Final Test Will Be About Worship

The great controversy has always centered on worship.

In Eden, the question was whether Adam and Eve would trust God’s Word or the serpent’s word.

In Babylon, the question was whether the faithful would bow to the image or worship God alone.

In Revelation, the final question is whether the world will worship the beast and his image or worship the Creator.

Spiritualism plays a major role in this final conflict because it can produce signs, wonders, and emotional appeals that lead people away from Scripture.

If people believe the dead can speak, then a supposed loved one can tell them the Sabbath has been changed.

If people trust apparitions, then a false Mary or angel can call them into unity with error.

If people trust miracles above Scripture, then supernatural signs can convince them to follow the wrong power.

If people believe all paths lead to God, then the unique authority of Jesus Christ is pushed aside.

That is why the Bible’s teaching on death is so important.

The Resurrection Is the Christian Hope

The Bible does not point believers to death as the doorway to immediate heavenly existence.

It points us to the resurrection.

Jesus said the dead will hear His voice and come forth.

Paul said the dead in Christ will rise first when Jesus descends from heaven.

First Corinthians 15 says that immortality is put on at the resurrection.

This is the blessed hope.

We do not need to imagine our loved ones hovering over us. We can trust that those who died in Christ are resting safely until the voice of Jesus calls them from the grave.

Death is a sleep.

Christ is the Life-giver.

The resurrection is coming.

How to Stand Against Spiritual Deception

The video’s message is serious, but it is not hopeless.

God has not left His people without protection. He has given us clear truth in Scripture.

1. Know the Word of God

We must study the Bible for ourselves. We cannot depend only on pastors, traditions, videos, or emotional experiences. The Word must be hidden in our hearts.

2. Understand the state of the dead

The dead know nothing. They are asleep until the resurrection. This truth closes one of Satan’s greatest doors of deception.

3. Test every spirit

No message should be accepted because it feels powerful or loving. It must be tested by Scripture.

4. Avoid occult practices

Christians should stay away from séances, mediums, channeling, astrology, spirit guides, mystical meditation, and attempts to contact supernatural beings.

5. Keep your eyes on Jesus

Christ is our Savior, Mediator, High Priest, and coming King. We need no other spiritual guide.

A Call to Come Out of Confusion

Revelation gives a final call:

“Come out of her, My people.”

This is a call out of Babylon, out of confusion, out of false worship, out of spiritual compromise, and back to the pure Word of God.

God has sincere people in many places. This message is not about attacking individuals. It is about exposing systems of deception and calling honest hearts to Christ.

Many people have believed error because they were never taught the truth. Many have accepted the immortal soul because it was handed down to them. Many have trusted near-death stories, apparitions, or spiritual experiences because they seemed comforting.

But when Scripture speaks, God calls us to listen.

The safest response is not pride or argument.

It is humility.

Lord, what does Your Word say?

Conclusion: The Bible Warned Us

Spiritualism has been rebranded many times.

It may appear as communication with the dead.

It may appear as apparitions of saints or loved ones.

It may appear as near-death experiences.

It may appear as mystical meditation.

It may appear as messages from angels.

It may appear as non-human intelligence or beings from another dimension.

But beneath the new language is the old lie:

“You shall not surely die.”

The Bible gives a better foundation.

The dead know nothing.

The soul who sins shall die.

Eternal life is a gift through Jesus Christ.

The dead in Christ will rise when Jesus returns.

Miracles must be tested by Scripture.

Jesus is the only way to the Father.

God’s people do not need to fear the last-day deception, but they do need to be awake. We must know the Bible. We must reject spiritualism. We must avoid the fascination of darkness. We must stand on the Word of God even when the whole world is moved by signs and wonders.

The final conflict will be intense, but Christ is greater than every deception.

He has already defeated Satan.

He has already conquered death.

He is coming again.

And those who trust His Word will not be deceived.

May we stand with Jesus, hold fast to Scripture, and be ready for the day when the voice of Christ calls His sleeping saints from the grave.
