The Church Work Bee
...
Two or more times per year we get together for a church work bee on a Sunday morning to put some “elbow grease” into our church facility. There are both tasks to do inside and outside of the church and Better Living Center so we can find something for everyone. Whether it is cleaning windows or getting leaves out of the gutters, we have something that is right for you.
It has been asked, “Why don’t we just hire people to come in do the needed work?” Well, the church does hire people for ongoing weekly and monthly services but here is a question, “Have you ever seen an Amish Barn Raising?” The community of believers working together towards a goal is a beautiful thing and the relationships deepen as a result. This bonding experience is as valuable as a clean facility, right? Amen.
What should I bring?
Most of the tools and materials for completing the jobs are provided. However, it is a good idea to bring personal safety equipment; gloves, glasses, and mask. Remember that some of the jobs are dirty so wearing the appropriate clothes is recommended.
Other tools that are helpful are ladders, rags, leaf blowers, rakes, clippers, pruning shears, and more.
There are times when we have lunch together after the work is done so you may want to help feed the workers. Contact the head deaconess to find out if a lunch will be provided.
